4As Philippines Reschedules Award Shows to 2021

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies (4As) of the Philippines has postponed all of its 2020 award shows to next year to ensure the health and safety of its member-agencies.

Among the affected shows are: the KIDLAT Awards, the 4As Agency of the Year (AOY) Awards, and the SIKAT Festival. Originally scheduled for April, the KIDLAT Awards are a yearly highlight of the 4As CreativeFest, while July’s AOY Awards are known locally as, “The Award that Matters”. This year would have seen the first-ever SIKAT Festival, which was conceived as a means for the 4As to spearhead industry solidarity.

“We deemed it appropriate to cancel these award-giving events so that we can focus more on helping our member-agencies cope and prioritize the health and welfare of their people during this crisis,” said Wunderman Thompson CEO Golda Roldan in her capacity as 4As President.

The announcements came on the heels of multiple international festival and award show cancellations, including the Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia, for which the 4As is the Philippines’ Official Festival Representative.

In line with the enhanced community quarantine in effect, and required social distancing, the 4As has indefinitely postponed its flagship events, including general membership meetings (GMMs) and the ARAL sessions. In the case of the latter, GMMs are being conducted online to discuss important industry and organizational matters.

Recognizing that agencies are still producing creative work in these trying times, the 4As is is currently compiling an archive of its members’ best practices in order to develop new tools and procedures for the months ahead.
