4As hosts 3rd GMM, spotlights hot takes at the Cannes Lions

The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As Philippines) gathered some of the industry’s sharpest minds for an evening of insight, inspiration, and global perspective during its 3rd General Membership Meeting (GMM) last July 11 at the Gallardo Room of Makati Diamond Residences.

Titled “Hot Takes from Cannes,” the highly anticipated gathering brought together some of the country’s Cannes Lions delegates and jury members to share their on-ground experiences, biggest takeaways, and boldest reflections from the world’s most prestigious platform for creative excellence—the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Among the speakers were Joe Dy, Chief Creative Officer of VML Manila; Margot Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines and a jury member for Creative Strategy; Raoul Panes, Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett Manila and Publicis Groupe Philippines, who sat on the Entertainment for Gaming jury; and Nikki Sunga, Associate Creative Director at BBDO Guerrero, who served on the Radio & Audio jury.

Their discussions provided attendees with a front-row view into how global creative standards are evolving—from the rise of AI, purpose-driven campaigns, to the innovative use of gaming, audio, and cultural storytelling. The event also offered valuable lessons on how the local creative industry can challenge itself to rise to global standards and earn a place on the Cannes Lions stage. Panelists emphasized the need for authenticity, bold thinking, and culturally grounded ideas—not just to compete, but to stand out among the world’s best.
