Since we’re here to talk about other dimensions of one’s life – what exactly is the motivation for them to do such? I, for one, is the need to escape from the daily toll in this industry we are in.
But that is already a give away, right? Apart from escaping, ‘yung iba kasi sa atin late bloomer kung tawagin. (Tayo na’t mag-Tagalog!)
Put into consideration as well the availability of almost every tool now! Kung dati pahirapan ang DIY, ngayon naman knowing just the right keywords and the proper platform, ‘yung matagal mo nang gustong simulan, ilang click lang ang katapat (at syempre kaunting ipon din!).
And that’s where our CDs will take you through. Their hobbies, when and how they started.
Paolo De Leon: I think as you get old in this industry, magbabago rin tastes mo sa hobbies. Apart from this kasi I also do ink paintings (please follow @blacklinya) and collect guitars. Rockers din kasi ako.
John Pabalan: I’ve been fascinated with cars and motorcycles for as long as I can remember. I’m a true fan of this one particular brand; imagine how ecstatic and honored I was when I started working for them!
THE WHEN
Pao: Dito sa riding hobby ko, I started early 2020s. With a little help from my friends, unti-unti ko naassemble itong ride ko from scratch. Then when the pandemic hit, dun ako nagkaroon nang maraming time to practice and eventually ride ‘pag may free time. I usually do it on weekends – in-between assembling my own garage, doing stuff for @blacklinya.
John: I was into drag racing during the early 2000s, so making fast-builds (and my Industrial design background) was really my thing. Getting older, you kind of want to see more of your surroundings, rather than speed blurs and fastest lap times. Pasok yung love ko for motorcycles. I ride when I can and it’s my therapy.
Marami rin talagang choppers sa d1m. In this context, chopping in-between work and life.
Nana Almario, self-proclaimed craFTswoMAn by being a plantita and sewing rugs while trying not to crack like an egg
Sydney Lagos, accounts on weekdays, skin-diver ‘pag weekends – kung may weekends man siya #NSD
Alex Santiago, the most dangerous strat person there is and the absolute go-to for top recos; hindi lactose intolerant, therefore mahilig sa CHEESE iykwim
Nikko Borromeo, in spite of numerous accolades, wants to be a full-time fitness instructor in another life
Micia Roxas, kahit bahain ng JO, hindi nawawalan ng oras for her podcast… and unstoppable to stan TWICE!
Jeremy Lopez (copywriter, award-winning din, hopeful CD, future Lion-winning creative): At dahil ako ang author ng article na ito, hindi ako papahuli. Before the pandemic, I’ve been a bike commuter. Ako ‘yung tipo na may early morning briefing/alignment, sasali ako sa huddle agad while I’m still wearing my full cycling gear. Because rak.
Another d1mension of mine would be being in an indie band since 2015.
Alright, bye.
