In her keynote speech, Henares recognized the importance of the advertising industry in molding and influencing the country through the agencies’ creative works and outputs.

“As an advertising agency, I believe that you exert a lot of influence through subliminal messages. I think that’s the most powerful communication tool,” Henares said, relating her short stint in the advertising industry in the past.

Henares also appealed to the association for an action “to inject in the way you communicate that love for our country and the Filipino identity.”

The 2013 4As board is composed of Publicis Manila CEO Matec Villanueva, chairperson; McCann Worldgroup Philippines managing partner Cecile Velez, president; Havas Worldwide Manila managing director and COO Norman Agatep, vice president; Draft FCB Manila president Jenny Wieneke, board secretary; Campaigns & Grey AVP-account management Meldy Warren, treasurer; DDB Philippines managing director John Lucas, corporate comptroller; and DM9 JaymeSyfu chief adviser and client relations officer Alex Syfu, Workshop One president Ruwel Loyola and EspressoDesign managing consultant Quintin Pastrana, directors.

With the theme “4As as the moving force of the industry”, Villanueva aims to focus on imbibing two important values to the members throughout her administration: transparency and political will.

“We’ll make sure that this board will only work for the collective interest of the development of our industry,” Villanueva said in her acceptance speech, adding that the actions of this year’s board will be done everything by the book, without personal agenda in a swift and decisive manner.

The newly-elected 4As board is set to meet on the first week of February to lay their plans for 2013.
